Trans-Atlantic-Training (TAT)<\/strong> is a series of annual workshops and training courses in Earth Observation (EO), organized since 2013 by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)<\/a>, the European Space Agency (ESA)<\/a> and Charles University in Prague<\/a>, Czech Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TAT 2022 training<\/strong>: \u201cA Changing Eastern Europe: New Challenges for Science and Capacity Building in Land Remote Sensing<\/strong>\u201d (TAT-9) will took place from 5 to 9 September 2022 and will be hosted by Charles University, Prague, Czechia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goals and objectives<\/mark> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of the Trans-Atlantic Training (TAT) initiative is to provide educational activities for students and early career scientists in the field of Earth observation, with an emphasis on remote sensing of land cover change and ecosystem dynamics. The purpose of TAT is to share and discuss advanced research methods and technologies from space through a series of meetings for scientists and students from both Europe and the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The topic of TAT 2022 (TAT-9) was \u201cA Changing Eastern Europe: New Challenges for Science and Capacity Building in Land Remote Sensing<\/strong><\/strong>\u201d. Leading experts from Europe and the US will present and discuss state-of-the-art advanced Earth observation methods. Technologies, tutorials and data from ESA and NASA missions will be presented and practiced in a hands-on training session. Lectures and training activities will focus on dynamic land cover\/land use changes evoked by unprecedented processes (e.g. epidemic of Covid-19, war conflicts, changes in global trade). Earth observation methods and data will be presented and trained in monitoring and evaluating the impact of these factors on agricultural land, urban areas or food security. Different types of sensors and their combination will be demonstrated: SAR data of the Sentinel-1 mission and optical data from the Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2 missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Target group<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Participants are expected to be
(a<\/strong>) Early-career scientists and engineers and
(b<\/strong>) Ph.D. and M.Sc. students with advanced skills and research experiences in remote sensing and\/or land cover\/land use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Potential participants from Central and Eastern Europe, Baltic States, and the Mediterranean region are particularly encouraged to apply. Application is open to nationals of (or those living\/working in) all ESA Member States. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
