Enantioselective organocatalytic synthesis of 1,2,3-trisubstituted cyclopentanes
This project is deals with the use of organocatalysis in an asymmetric synthesis of functionalized cyclopentanes, valuable synthons in preparation of complex organic molecues. In the first part of the work a set of variously substituted enals from commercially available aldehydes are going to be prepared (using Wittig reaction). Next, the preparation of several halonitroalkanes from the corresponding alcohols is planned. The second part of the work will be focused on optimization of the reaction conditions in the organocatalytical Michael/α-alkylation reaction sequence with respect to the yields and enantiomeric excesses of the products.
