In this study, linear and nonlinear climate-growth models for spruce and pine stands across Central Europe were compared in order to identify the main drivers of non-stationarity (unstable climate-growth relationships in trees). The paper addresses current methodological challenges in dendro-sciences which might have implications for future forest growth models.
