Geobiology I. |
Geobiologie I. |
winter |
Teacher |
Introduction to geobiology, differences between recent and fossil ecosystems, proxies for recontruction of fossil ecosystems, principles of molecular paleobiology and geomicrobiology |
MG420P03 |
Geobiology II. |
Geobiologie II. |
summer |
Teacher |
Second part of the introduction to geobiology; it continues to explain differences between recent and fossil ecosystems, proxies for recontruction of fossil ecosystems; evolutionary aspects, events. |
MG421P03A |
Historical and stratigraphical geology I |
Historická astratigrafická geologie I |
winter |
Teacher |
This course provides detailed charcteristics of periods of the Precambrian and Palaeozoic. It is mainly focused on stratigraphic subdivision, index fossils, evolution of ecosystems, geotectonical and palaeogeographical events, development of main units of the Bohemian Massif, Western Carpathians and other important areas for each period. |
MG422P01 |
Palaeontology |
Paleontologie |
winter |
Guarantor |
This course gives to MSc students a knowledge on palaeontological system (Bacteria, Fungi, Algobionta, Embryobionta, Protozoa, Porifera, Archeocyata, Coelenterata). All mjor groups of fossil organisms are characterized from the view-point of detailed morphology, palaeoecology, evolution and systematic subdivision. Each lecture is followed by practical demonstration of fossil material samples. |
MG422P02 |
Principles of paleobiology I |
Základy paleobiologie I |
winter |
Guarantor |
In the individual blocks will be discussed microfossils of animal and plant origin, macroscopic rest of the lower and higher plants, invertebrates and vertebrates. Emphasis will be on systematics, taxonomy, evolution, paleoecology, research methods of various groups of biota and palaeogeographical andstratigrafical range in history of the Earth. |
MG422P06 |
Principles of paleobiology II |
Základy paleobiologie II |
summer |
Teacher |
General topics in paleobiology: fossilization, taphonomy, principles of paleoecology, biostratigraphy, paleogeography, evolution, nomenclature of fossils. |
MG422P12 |
Systematic Paleontology I |
Systematická paleontologie I |
winter |
Teacher |
This course gives to MSc students an extended knowledge on palaeontological system (Bacteria, Fungi, Algobionta, Embryobionta, Protozoa, Porifera, Archeocyata, Coelenterata). All main groups of fossil organisms are characterized from the view-point of detailed morphology, palaeoecology, evolution and systematic subdivision. Each lecture is followed by practical demonstration of fossil material samples. |
MG422P14 |
Palaeogeography and palaeobiogeography |
Paleogeografie a paleobiogeografie |
winter |
Guarantor |
Paleogeography get information about the status and development of different parts of Europe during the last 600 million years, with an emphasis on regional geological units of the Bohemian Massif. |
MG422P19 |
Systematic Paleontology II |
Systematická paleontologie II |
summer |
Guarantor |
This course gives to MSc students an extended knowledge on palaeontological system (Metazoa: Invertebrates and Vertebrates including evolution of man). All main groups of fossil organisms are characterized from the view-point of detailed morphology, palaeoecology, evolution and systematic subdivision. Each lecture is followed by practical demonstration of fossil material samples. |
MG422P22 |
Palaeobiology of Precambrian and Early Palaeozoic |
Paleobiologie prekambria a spodního paleozoika |
winter |
Guarantor |
Basic types of recent and fossil ecosystems will be analysed in individual blocks. The development of relations within individual types of associations, including the recently oldest known appearance of separate types of relations will be discussed in detail. |
MG422P35 |
Taphonomy I |
Tafonomie I |
winter |
Guarantor |
General cours of the taphonomy (origin of fossils, methods of fossilization etc.). |
MG422P62 |
Taphonomy and Lagerstätten |
Tafonomie a tafonomická okna |
W+S |
Guarantor |
Separate blocks will be focussed on basic types of taphonomic windows from the Proterozoic to Recent. Types of fosilization, as well as palaeocology of individua groups and methods of study will be discussed in detail. |
MG422T43 |
Field Documentation for Paleontologists |
Terénní cvičeníz paleontologie |
summer |
Guarantor |
Field excursions of the paleontology includes visiting of selected sites Early Paleozoic (Barrandien) Palaeozoic age (Permo-Carboniferous formation Central Bohemia), Upper Cretaceous (continental and marine) and, if possible Tertiary (northern Bohemia). During visits profile of selected sites will be compiled into a detailed lithological profile which will gradually comprise no data on the occurrence and frequency of each finding macroscopic fossils and ichnotaxon. At the conclusion will be evaluated in detail biostratigraphy and paleoecology (taxonomy) data. |
