DiCE roll to North Macedonia!

The team takes a break from the meeting to pose for a picture on the banks of Lake Ohrid.

On 7-9 May 2024, DiCE attended the 15th European Diatom Meeting in Ohrid, North Macedonia. During the three day meeting, the team not only attended presentations on the taxonomy, ecology, and applications of diatoms, but also got an opportunity to tour ancient Lake Ohrid by boat, the town of Ohrid by foot, and take a few samples in between.

In what was certainly the highlight of the meeting (followed closely behind the Thursday night disco), our very own Tereza Vošická won third place in the best student oral presentation contest, with her talk about her Master’s thesis, which focuses on the unique nature of glacier-fed stream diatoms. Congratulations, and well deserved, Terka!
