Josef Mánes

was born in May 12th, 1820 in Prague and died in December 9th, 1871 also in Prague. He painted many paintings with historical topics and portraits, he illustrated Rukopis královédvorský (Manuscript of Králův Dvůr) and Holy Scriptures. Author of the first Czech modern exlibris on behalf of Sir Lanna, author of festive target discs for Prague shart-shooters, of flags for various clubs and associations. Author of the calendar on the Old Town Hall, comprising of twelve allegories of months.
