Josef Váchal
was born in September 23rd, 1884 at Milaveč near Domažlice, died in May 10th, 1969 at Studeňany. Painer, graphic artist, wood-carver, writer and editor of bibliographic works. His graphic work comprises 2000 black-and-white and colours wood - cuts, 17 graphic cycles. He bounded and printed more than one hundred books, decorated by the original wood-cuts.
