Research objectives

The project aims to develop the methods leading to (i) assessment of spatially differentiated socio-economic impacts of reduction/enlargement capacity of an important regional player in the labour market, (ii) mapping the socio-economic development of a catchment area of Dukovany nuclear power station with regard to its future operation, (iii) the creation of variants of socio-economic development in the region in case of closure/extension of Dukovany NPS or keeping its current state.

Project description

The closure of important regional employer causes the transformation of social and economic environment in the area and it has fundamental impact on the quality of life of its residents. To consider such important changes is therefore required in decisions about the future development of the region, especially in spatial and strategic planning. The aim of the project is to develop methods and procedures to improve regional planning by inclusion of the effect of significant change in working of regional economic player. We use the general framework of Territorial Impact Assessment (TIA) for evaluation of the socio-economic impact of the extension or the closure of an important regional employer on the given area.
