Project aims

The main focus of this research project is to evaluate the spatial mobility and its constraints in women’s everyday life in Prague metropolitan region and to draw attention to problems evolving from the current gender division of our society. The research project is based on two objectives:

Objective 1

The projects aims to explore general differences between men and women in everyday mobility and spatiotemporal allocation of activities on the macro level based on the statistical analysis of available data. Particularly, the project researches home-work relation and time allocation to various types of activities of Prague metropolitan region inhabitants. We primarily focus on sex differences and we evaluate them in relation to changing stages in the life course, place of residence and socio-economic status. The partial aim is to identify socio-demographic groups with the most significant sex differences and the lowest level of mobility.

Objective 2

The project aims to analyse daily mobility and time use, its constraints and strategies of groups of women in Prague metropolitan region identified in the earlier stage. This part of the project is based on the mezzo- and microlevel analyses and uses the explanatory case study approach.
