Mariya has been distinguished with the Neuron Prize 2022 for Promising Scientists in Chemistry

On Sunday 16 October, the Neuron Foundation awarded two Czech scientists for their outstanding lifetime contributions to global research, one scientific transfer project, and six rising stars in science.

The main award was presented to Professor Jan Starý, a pioneer in childhood leukemia treatment from the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. The second lifetime achievement prize went to Professor Pavel Hobza, a world-renowned chemist from the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences.

The Neuron Awards for Promising Scientists 2022 were given to:
Martina Živná (medicine) – for discovering causes of hereditary kidney disease
Anežka Kuzmičová (social sciences) – for research on literacy

Martin Setvín (physics) – for work on non-conductive materials
Jan Kynčl (mathematics) – for advances in combinatorics

Gabriel Demo (biology) – for exploring bacteria and virus-infected cells
Mariya Shamzhy (chemistry) – for her research on porous materials and catalytic processes at the Faculty of Science, Charles University
