Introducing biological lab techniques to children
While our work as scientists has us mostly confined to our “science bubble”, it is important to sometimes reach out a bit and also to give back. That is why Martina and Honza organised a biology-themed programme for kids from our local school. The aim was to introduce the kids to basic laboratory techniques as well as the biological principles behind them. For example, they could try to examine buccal cells under light microscopy, pipetting and visualisation of proteins left behind in fingerprints. We hope it was informative and enjoyable for them, and who knows, maybe some of them will later on decide to become scientists as well.
