Keynote lecture online

The inpiring keynote lecture given by Jenny Robinson, Slávka Ferenčuhová and Michael Gentile, entitled Comparative Urbanism and Post-socialism: experiences and perspectives, which was given at the CATference in Prague is now available for online viewing at the International Journal of Urban and Regional Studies website.

Past and future CATferences

Many thanks to all participants having contributed to the friendly and inspiring atmosphere of CATference in Prague! We are looking forward to meeting you at the 7th CATference which is to be held in Kiev, Ukraine, in 2017!

Tuesday meeting - change of location

We apologize for and prevent you of the change of location of today´s evening meeting. We are NOT meeting in Lokál u Bílé Kuželky, but we ARE meeting in Lokál v Dlouhé (see map) at 19:00For those of you who will need to get from the wrong place to the right one, we recommend taking tram no. 5 from "Malostranská" or "Malostranské náměstí" stop to "Dlouhá třída", which takes about 5 minutes.

 

16 September

CATference 2017 vote

CATference 2015 participants will have the opportunity to elect the next CATference locale. If no candidate achieves at least 50% of the vote during the first round, a second vote will concern the two top candidates from the first round. The first round will will be held on Wednesday 23 September immediately after the official opening of the conference. It is thus recommended to participants to go through the CATference 2017 proposals before coming to Prague.

 

15 September

Final programme published

Prague field trip

It is our pleasure to invite registered participants to join one of the Prague field trips on Thursday 24 September. Information on all field trips can be found here. Please, register for your preferred field trip by Tuesday 22 September via this form.

Thursday dinner

After the field trip (around 19:00), all registered participants are invited to conference dinner in Vinohradský pivovar (Korunní str. 2506/106, 100 m from tram stop Orionka, 500 m from metro station Flora; see map).

Informal meeting on Tuesday 22 September

Participants who arrive to Prague on Tuesday 22 September are invited to an informal gathering in restaurant U Bílé Kuželky (see map) at 19:00.

Conference fee cancellation policy

Please note that for participation canceled after 9 September it is NOT possible to get the paid conference fee refunded. Thank you for your understanding.

Field trip capacity full

The maximum number of participants in the field trip to Northern Bohemia was attained and it is no more possible to sign in. However, those who missed the opportunity and are interested in coming, can contact the organization team and ask to be signed in the waiting list.

Preliminary programme & list of abstracts published

We are pleased to announce that the preliminary programme of the conference was published here. However, it might still be subject to change. Abstracts of individual papers can be downloaded here.The final version of the programme will be published soon.

Field trip cancellation policy

Please note that there is no possibility to refund paid participation fee for the Northern Bohemia field trip after 1st September. In case participants can not take part in the excursion, it is up to them to find a replacement. The organization team can only assist to this, but can not be in charge of the whole replacement-seeking process. Thank you for your understanding!

Field trip highlights

During the field trip to Northern Bohemia, participants will have the opportunity to discover the peculiar history and landscape of the region. Among the highlights of the excursion, there are collective housing project Koldům in Litvínov, a completely relocated church in Most, the Jezeří castle and a "coal safari".

Preliminary programme & the auspices of CATference 2015 updated

As a response to the growing number of questions about the timing of CATference, the updated version of the conference programme was published. Please note that the indicated times may be slightly modified according to the final number of registered participants.

We are happy to announce that the CATference 2015 is held under auspices of of the Section of Geography and the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague, and the Czech Geographical Society.

 

31 March

Acceptation emails sent to authors

On March 31, emails with the scientific committee´s decision upon acceptation were sent to authors of all registered papers. We are looking forward to the many interesting sessions including about 90 papers received from participants! 

 

23 February

CATference deadline extended

Due to several requests, the deadline for submission of paper abstracts and session proposals for CATference 2015 has been extended! You can register via online form and/ or send session proposals by email by March 10.

 

19 February

Scholarships for participants from the EU Association Agreement countries

Our funding allows us to offer five scholarships to those attending from the EU Association Agreement countries, i. e. Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia. The first three participants from Ukraine, one from Georgia and one from Moldova to register for the CATference are eligible to participate in the conference for free! The awardees will be notified by email after acceptance of their abstract by the CATference scientific committee. Scholarships will cover the cost of the basic registration fee. The scholarships will not cover cost of the excursion to Northern Bohemia nor daily subsistence expenses.

Keynote speakers

We are pleased to announce that prof. Jennifer Robinson (University College London) and dr. Michal Illner (Czech Academy of Sciences) have confirmed to hold their keynote speeches at the CATference in Prague.

 

Field trip

The field trip to Northern Bohemia will be guided by Petr Gibas from Czech Academy of Sciences whose research interests include research of urban gardening, policies and negotiations on urban nature, politics of urban development, theoretical conceptualization of landscape, visual methods of social science research and others. His dissertation deals with Industrial landscape in anthropological-geographical perspective.

Deadline for paper and session abstracts is approaching fast. Do not miss the opportunity to take part in the 6th International Urban Geographies of Post-communist States Conference: 25 years of urban change and submit your abstract by 28 February by filling in the registration form.

We would also like to inform you that after acceptance of your paper, you can take advantage of the early bird payment at a more convenient price (due by 15 May), whereas other payments (due by 15 July) will be charged the standard price.
