Urbanization processes in Prague urban region
Aim of project
POST-DOC project is concerned with analysis of urbanisation processes in Prague urban region during transformation period and in 2000-2005 period. It is based on analysis of migration data and comparison of two latest population censuses held in 1991 resp. 2001 and also on case studies of selected neighbourhoods in Prague urban region. Main attention is put on suburbanisation and suburban development and their impact on the change of socio-spatial structure. Project modifies and empirically tests theoretical approaches of urban research - theory of stages of urban development and theory of differential urbanisation. Main outputs of this project are book of selected topics, series of articles, www pages and conference papers. Particular stress is paid on cooperation with pre-gradual and post-gradual students of social geography. Results of project will be useful for two university courses - Urbanisation and urban development and Social geography of Prague.
