Single cell RNA-sequencing seminar

Several of our lab members participated in a recent seminar held on our faculty termed “Introduction to the 10x Chromium Platform and Hands-On Experience”. The seminar opened with presentations from representatives of Genetica and 10x Genomics, who covered the methodologies available on the Chromium X platform and the latest advancements, including updates on the newly released chemistry for single-cell, multiome, and other related applications. This part was followed by a session consisting of short talks focused on hands-on experience.

Zuzana Konvičková and Pau Balart-García, both heading from the Zuzana Musilová Laboratory, gave interesting presentations regarding their experience with acquisition and processing of scRNAseq data from fish eyes and the challenges of working with rare specimens. Janek Mašek, the head of the Laboratory of Intercellular Communication, shared his insight and experience regarding the deconvolution of bulk RNA-seq data with scRNA-seq data to gain the most out of both. Finally from our lab, Honza V. gave a presentation about the advantages and disadvantages of integration of multiple scRNAseq datasets. Helča shared her experience with the isolation of rare cell populations and their enrichment for the purposes of scRNA-seq.

Overall, it was a great opportunity for discussion and sharing knowledge regarding different approaches from sample acquisition to data processing when it comes to scRNA-sequencing.
