Visit in school
In the spring of 2025, we visited an elementary school in Prague, where we prepared a fun session about bacteria for 3rd to 5th grade students. The kids were amazing and enjoyed it.
We investigated where in the classroom the most bacteria might be hiding, what was the dirtiest, and what was surprisingly clean. We talked about how bacteria grow, and took lots of swabs to Petri dishes.
The kids “prepared” a whole collection of bacteria for us, which we later cultivated and photographed in our lab. Some of them might even make it into our experiments — we found swarming species, probably originating from Bacillus spp. spores, which created really beautiful patterns.
