The laboratory primarily provides service support in the field of biological electron microscopy for the purposes of research and teaching carried out by staff and students of the Faculty of Science’s Biology section (PřF). The services include consultations concerning the methodology of biological sample processing, and material and technical assistance with the preparation of specimens and the operation of electron microscopes.
Further activities of the laboratory consist of the following areas:
- As a main/co-investigating workplace, it participates in the implementation of selected grant projects, either independently or in cooperation with the specialized departments of the Faculty of Science’s Biology section.
- It ensures the teaching of the elective course “Electron Microscopy” (MB160C38) for students of biological disciplines and co-participates in the teaching and demonstrations within special courses and practicals of individual departments.
- If possible, it also provides service support to other cooperating scientific institutions.
- It conducts its own research in the field of biological electron microscopy applications.
